Role play & female ambivalence
Drei Berliner Künstlerinnen stellen Landschaften aus, deren Schnittstelle der Kontrast zwischen dem verführerischen Bild des idyllischen Augenblicks und seinem latent drohenden Aufbrechen ist.
His second exhibition in Berlin explores the artist’s perception of colorful personalities. Strangely cropped shots, amateurish close-ups with a flashbulb glare analyze the nature of his subjects. Drunken friends, social animals and strangers look cheesy, gauche, and straight forward. Kiselev is doing what he does best - entertaining and provoking. Quiet reflection is not his way. Rudeness is. Naked and unpolished, Kiselev’s heroes don’t look fully armored, but awkwardly defenseless, adding a new element of fragility and melancholy to his work.
For many years, painting has been the discipline that has promoted the most research and artistic thought. The fact that it was at the forefront of the avant-garde for so long led to its exhaustion, and the rumour that it was dead; a fictitious death that only predicted the end of its modern phase. Now, after being liberated from formalistic criteria, modern painting is discovering new fields of action, exploring its own limits and at the same time reflecting on its place in the art world. The exhibition Abstract Realities combines three creative proposals associated with this debate. Kirsten Mosel, PSJM and José Rosario Godoy develop their ideas in the vast territory of abstract painting, one of the most transcendental movements in the history of the past century.
Graffiti Art has come a long way. Since its start in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the turn of the late 60's, the movement took on very quickly in New York City and by the late 80's was fully established as a movement in Europe as well. One of the biggest artistic movements of all times, graffiti found its way from illegal nocturnal actions into mainstream culture. To call the following art movement Post Graffiti, Streetart or Urban Art doesn't matter, if you see the worldwide impact which this young art movement gave us. Watch out for the Masters of Post Graffiti..
